Arkong Bato celebrates Sta. Cruz Fiesta in Valenzuela

The residents of Arkong Bato celebrate the Sta. Cruz fiesta every 3rd week of May. Like other fiesta in other barangay, they have dance competition and singing competition. They also have Basket ball league with different division the junior and senior division.
Before the day of the fiesta they are preparing banderitas to their street. And in the day of the   fiesta the youth people of barangay prepare Filipino games. Like pukpuk palayok, sack race, and agawan buko etc.
A traditional earthen pot called a palayok is filled with goodies (wrapped candies, coins...) and suspended in the air. A player is blindfolded and then spun around to disorient her. A stick is put in her hand and she/he is told to walk in a straight line towards where the pot is hanging and try to hit it. The crowd shouts out instructions at her. "Go straight, to the left, to the right, stop!"

She/he gets one attempt to hit it hard enough to break. If she/he doesn't break the pot, another guest at the party gets his turn. If she/he breaks it, it's a free-for-all and everyone in the crowd goes for the goodies. The player who successfully smashes the palayok is given a prize.
The youth need to make they own group to start the game. Have the groups form their lines. And each group will get a sack and they need to wear the sack and jump to reach the finish line.
"Agawang buko" is played with a greased coconut, and has many variations. One has teams passing around and trying to bring the coconut from one base to another, or get possession of the "buko", much like American football. Another is a free for all where the first person to get the buko to a particular spot wins the prize.
